The formulation for all our recipes is overseen by our on-staff nutritionist who is a certified pet nutritionist and has been formulating pet food for 12 years. Additionally, we work with third party nutritionists who bring additional expertise in wet food and treat formulation.
We work to create formulations where every ingredient used has a valuable role in the nutritional value, quality, or safety of the product. As an example. Here is an image of our Active Sport Dry Dog Food recipe and the role that each ingredient plays. Want to learn more, please ask us a question on our contact us. We’d be happy to help.

For less active adult dogs we would recommend our Senior Healthy Weight. This has a lower fat percentage and calorie content compared to the rest of our line. The added L-carnitine helps support a healthy body weight by increasing fat burning while maintaining lean muscle.
This recipe is not just for senior dogs. It is a great solution for any adult dog that is looking to maintain a healthy weight or might not be as active as their younger selves.
Our wet and dry dog foods are appropriate for all breeds and sizes. We recommend selecting a food based on your dog’s activity levels as well as their size. Our Puppy + Active Adult and Active Sport recipes have our smallest kibble size, 9mm diameter - which is about the size of a new standard pencil eraser. These are great for puppies and higher energy, active, working dogs.
The rest of our kibble is 12mm and offers options for moderate to lower activity levels. 12mm is about ½ inch wide – the size of a standard shirt button.
Yes, we would recommend a small dog try our Soft & Savory Training Bites which are good for rewarding puppies or adults. Our Premium Jerky – Salmon Recipe is also good for small dogs of all ages – and a great way to help keep their skin and coat looking healthy. The Premium Jerky – Chicken Recipe and the Jerky Sticks are appropriate for adult small dogs – and can help support healthy hips and joints! You might want to break up the pieces of these larger treats.
For puppies between 3 and 6 weeks old that are transitioning from nursing to solid food, it is recommended to soften Unrivaled kibble by mixing one-part dry food with three-parts warm water and allowing it to soak for 10–15 minutes prior to feeding. Gradually decrease the water content as the puppies grow and adjust to dry food.
Transitioning your dog to an Unrivaled food is best done gradually over 10 days to keep their digestion on track and avoid any digestive upset.
- Start with 25% Unrivaled and 75% of their current food for days 1–3.
- Move to a 50/50 mix for days 4–6.
- Then use 75% Unrivaled for days 7–9.
- Finish with 100% Unrivaled on day 10.
Throughout the process, stick to your regular feeding routine, monitor your pet’s behavior and appetite, and consult your veterinarian if you notice any issues.
